About JJ
JJ Thompson is managing partner at Thompson DeSonier. A native Arkansan, JJ lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife and two children.
JJ graduated from Arkansas State University with his Bachelors in Political Science as a four-time intercollegiate debate national champion. After college, JJ helped found a holdings company, Black Fork Holdings, which has grown into a statewide business with multiple growing brands, including the new Early Advantage Academic Preschool. He received his Masters in Business Administration in 2021 from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
While in law school at the University of Arkansas School of Law, JJ won both the negotiations and trial competition, and was named top oralist and top advocate respectively.
JJ’s passion for service and advocacy shapes his community involvement. He currently serves as City Councilman in the city of Cave Springs, and has served as the Dean of the School of Commerce for Arkansas Boys State since its inception in 2021.

About Mike
Major Michael “Mike” DeSonier brings a unique and highly adaptable legal background to the firm, combining military service with municipal and prosecutorial experience. Michael served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army in Japan, where he prosecuted felony court-martial cases and advised commanders across the region—a role that honed his trial skills and endowed him with a keen sense of legal poise under pressure.
Prior to his military service, Michael served as an Assistant City Attorney in Aurora, Colorado, where he supported various city departments with strategic and legally sound advice. He has also prosecuted in the district attorney’s office, allowing him to develop strong litigation capabilities from multiple vantage points.
